Eating out can be one of the most difficult challenges when trying to stay on track with your weight loss goals. You don’t want to constantly say no to various social occasions, birthday dinners out or even a family dinner out. Thankfully that doesn’t have to be the case, there are now plenty of restaurants that will suit the whole family and offer options that will help you stay on track. My top three popular places to go which are family friendly are:
1)Nandos- Nando’s is an all-round favourite of many and the best thing about them is they have an endless list of healthy options to choose from.
My top option would usually be the Butterfly chicken with sauce of your choice and one sides which would include either Chargrilled veg or Macho peas . This in total usually comes to around 425 Calories. The salad options in Nandos are just as good I usually go with mediterranean salad with added chicken breast.
2)Another go to favourite for all the family is the Italian restaurant Zizzi’s. As well as the food being so good it’s also healthy and offers low calorie meals. The Zizzi’s menu includes all the low calorie healthy options that all seem to be under 600. My favourite option here is the Green Goddess Salmon salad and as a side they offer tender steam broccoli. Another few options that are included in the low calorie options are the King Prawn Linguine and the Chicken Risotto, skinny pizzas as well as hanging mediterranean skewers, so you won’t feel like your completely missing out when the family tuck into pizza and pasta.
3) Although Chopped is not your sit down family restaurant I have included it as it’s a good option for a on the run option. With chopped it can be easy to go over your calories as we sometimes have the mind-set that it’s a salad so it has to be low calorie. However this isn’t always the case with some of the menu choices at chopped due to the dressings which will just add extra calories. For me when I order at Chopped I always make my own so I can know exactly what goes in to my salad. My advice would be to go for any meat of your choosing add as many greens, some sun dried tomatoes, and choose between brown rice, quinoa or Sweet potatoes as your carb source. The dressing is where your calories will hide so try stay away from real creamy ones and instead go for light vinaigrette or lemon. You can always ask for them to put the dressing on the side or sometimes I tell them when they have put enough on.
